The events of the past few years have served to remind us not only of how close of a nation we can become in times of national disaster, but also how divided we can remain when those events fade from our mind. It is important the we remember not only the recent past, but the events of years gone by. It is by putting the events of the past into today’s perspective that we learn from those mistakes, and hopefully not repeat them.
Called December 07, 1941, this site looks at pictures and maps of Pearl Harbor, the US naval base in the Hawaiian Islands. Here are some familiar pictures that we have all grown up with, as well as some answers to questions that were raised after that day. It is interesting to compare these snapshots in time to the ones from 9-11.
This is a very simple site, but does honor to the memory of the veterans that died on this date. It also serves as a lesson that the events that led up to that day were obvious in hindsight, and we should apply those lessons to today. Take a moment today, and remember the ultimate sacrifice that they made. Also remember those that are in harm’s way around the world, protecting our nation, and all that is stands for.
